Primary Proof of the Bible: Types (Foreshadowings) of the Antichrist throughout History

-VIRGIL’S AENEID

---AENEAS
Virgil’s Aeneid IS ACTUALLY ABOUT CHRIST (AENEAS) BRINGING A REMNANT OF HIS PEOPLE THE JEWS (THE TROJANS) TO MIX WITH NON-JEWS (ITALIANS) IN THE NEW JERUSALEM (ROME), WHICH IS CURRENTLY IN HEAVEN BUT WILL DESCEND TO EARTH AT THE END OF TIME. (Revelation 21:2) The sack of Troy in Book II is a type of the sack of Jerusalem during the First Crusade.  The difficulties the Trojans encountered in making it to Rome (described in Book III) perhaps symbolize the many trials a Christian must face before entering into the New Jerusalem.  Aeneas’ battle with and triumph over Turnus and his forces symbolize CHRIST’S ULTIMATE VICTORY OVER SATAN AND SATAN’S FORCES (for a Fury of Hell possesses Turnus so that “lust of steel raged in him, brute insanity of war, and wrath above all (Aeneid 7:445-470), and/or that Christ needs to be “pierced” in order for humans to dwell in Christ’s empire of peace, for Turnus apparently is a type of the Antichrist as well as a type of Satan.  Aeneas and his allies don’t kill all the Italians because SOME JEWS WILL INHABIT THE NEW JERUSALEM, AFTER THEY COME TO REALIZE THAT JESUS IS LORD, BUT 2/3 OF THEM WILL PERISH, AS IN THE HOLOCAUST. (Zechariah13:1,8)

In Book I, Aeneas is said to weep for the deaths of his comrades more than any other person did.  Truly is it said that “God wills that all men be saved” (although He wills even more to have some men perish so that the saved people can love Him even more), and truly is God’s love for those who fear Him “as high as the heavens are above the Earth” (Psalm 103)!!!  Furthermore, it is said of Aeneas that there was “none more just, more zealous, greater in arms and in warfare.” (apx. Aeneid 1:842) His general valor and prominence among the Trojan fighters is attested to at Iliad 2.819, where Aeneas is identified as the ruler of the Dardan host, and again at Iliad 6.75 where Helenus calls Hector and Aeneas the best among the Trojans at war and plotting. [So is Jesus best at war, for He because of His omnipotence defeats all His foes!  And so is He the best at plotting, for “in Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2:3)]

In Book I, Romulus, a type of the Antichrist, is said to come 333 years after Aeneas battles in Rome.  Truly was Christ resurrected in his 33rd year!

-Sack of Troy in Book II in 1100s BC ~ Sack of Jerusalem in AD 1096-99
That Troy is symbolic of Jerusalem is indicated by the fact that the types of Christ Hector, Patroclus, Sarpedon, etc. all die in Troy.  It is also indicated by the following facts:

http://gbgm-umc.org/UMW/bible/crusades.stm#first
The First Crusade was the most successful from a military point of view. Accounts of this action are shocking. For example, historian Raymond of Agiles described the capture of Jerusalem by the Crusaders in 1099:
Some of our men cut off the heads of their enemies; others shot them with arrows, so that they fell from the towers; others tortured them longer by casting them into the flames. Piles of heads, hands and feet were to be seen in the streets of the city. It was necessary to pick one's way over the bodies of men and horses. But these were small matters compared to what happened at the temple of Solomon, a place where religious services ware ordinarily chanted. What happened there? If I tell the truth, it will exceed your powers of belief. So let it suffice to say this much at least, that in the temple and portico of Solomon, men rode in blood up to their knees and bridle reins.

There were those who thought that they might get rich by taking the wealth that they thought existed in Jerusalem.

The First Crusade had a very difficult journey getting to the Middle East.

The Muslims claimed afterwards that 70,000 people were killed and that the Crusaders took whatever treasure they could from the Dome of the Rock.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Crusade
The First Crusade was launched in 1096 by Pope Urban II with the dual goals of conquering the sacred city of Jerusalem and the Holy Land and freeing the Eastern Christians from Islamic rule.
30,000 men and 5,000 cavalry went on the Crusade.

In the end most who took up the call were not knights, but peasants who were not wealthy and had little in the way of fighting skills
Over the course of that afternoon, evening and next morning, the crusaders murdered almost every inhabitant of Jerusalem.  Muslims, Jews, and even eastern Christians were all massacred.

According to the anonymous Gesta Francorum, in what some believe to be an exaggerated account of the massacre which subsequently took place there, "...the slaughter was so great that our men waded in blood up to their ankles...”

And it came to pass, that Peter, passing through all quarters, went down also to the saints that inhabited Lydda.  And he found there a certain man, Aeneas by name, for eight years lying on a couch, who was paralyzed.  And Peter said to him, AENEAS, JESUS CHRIST heals you; rise up, and spread a couch for yourself.’  And immediately he rose up.  And all those inhabiting Lydda and the Saron saw him, and they turned to the Lord. (Acts 9:32-35)

Christ died for our sins, as written in the Scriptures; He was buried and He was RAISED the third day, according to the Scriptures; and He appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve.  And He appeared to above five hundred brothers at once, of whom the greater part remain until now. (1 Corinthians 15:3-5)

Not only does this passage juxtapose the names Aeneas and Jesus Christ, but it even says that Aeneas rose from the dead, and was seen by all the people in the area where he lived, just as Jesus was!

The descent of Aeneas into Hades in Aeneid Book VI is symbolic of the fact that JESUS DESCENDED INTO HADES AND THEN RETURNED FROM IT ALIVE, TO ESTABLISH HIS KINGDOM OF PEACE CENTERED IN THE NEW JERUSALEM.  This resemblance is no mere coincidence: other types of Christ such as Hercules and Odysseus descend into Hades and return from it alive as well!!!  Extremely few people have done this! Look at this line: "The way downward is easy from Avernus..But to retrace your steps to heaven's air, there is the trouble, there is the toil. A few whom a benign Jupiter has loved or whom fiery heroism has borne to heaven, SONS OF GODS, COULD DO IT"!!!!!!!!!!!! (~6.130-35)

“But since He ascended, what is it but that also he first descended into the lower parts of the Earth?  He that ascended is the same who also ascended above the heavens, that He might fulfill all things.” (Ephesians 4:9-10)

“Indeed Christ once for sins suffered, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God; having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit, He thus went and then preached to the spirits in prison, who had disobeyed, when once the longsuffering of God was waiting in the days of Noah.” (1 Peter 3:18-20)

The account of the Elysian Fields of Hades is a true depiction of “the bosom of Abraham” of Luke 16 which is separated from the place of torment by a large divider!  The heroes here are feasting!  They are praising Apollo, the god of the Sun!  All the humans here did good works out of love for their neighbors!  As God the Father loves God the Son, Anchises loves Aeneas!  The souls all have a “second body” in store for them at the end of the 1,000 years, as the Resurrection of dead bodies follows Christ’s 1,000 year kingdom (Revelation 20), referred to also in the last line of Plato’s Republic where Socrates tells Glaucon that if we pursue righteousness then “here and in the journey of a 1,000 years we shall fare well”!  The passage correctly says that God’s Spirit and Mind are “infused through all the members of the world”!  Rome is linked with Olympus because the New Jerusalem will be ruled by God!  Caesar Augustus, Alcides (Hercules), and Bacchus are juxtaposed because they are all types of Christ!  Numa is “the king who builds early Rome on a base of laws,” and he has a snowy mane and beard!  Michelangelo’s sculpture of Moses portrays Moses with a long beard!  “Roman, remember by your strength to rule Earth’s peoples- for your arts are to be these: to pacify [make PEACE], to impose the rule of LAW, to spare the conquered [i.e. to have MERCY], BATTLE DOWN THE PROUD.”

In Book VIII, Aeneas is compared to Hercules, another type of the Antichrist, as I argue above!  In ~6.122, he says: "why name the heroes, Theseus & Hercules? By birth I too descend from Jove on high." Like Aeneas, Hercules descended into Hades & returned alive. As Hercules is celebrated by these men year after year for causing men to be “saved from barbaric dangers,” so is Jesus ever-celebrated for saving His people from Satan and from their sins!  Cacus sounds like the Greek word Kakos, which means “Evil”!  Satan is the Evil One!  Cacus has a “bestial form” just like Satan!  Hercules and Jesus both have “well-fed cattle,” for Jesus takes care of His people!  As Hercules in his rage went over all Mount Aventine (one of the seven hills of Rome) three times, Jesus will live in and perhaps go over all the New Jerusalem which Rome foreshadows, and He is strongly associated with the number three!

“What man of you having a hundred SHEEP, and having lost ONE of them, leaves not the ninety-nine in the wilderness and goes ater that which has been LOST, until he find it?  And having found it, he lays it on his shoulders rejoicing, and having come to the house he calls together friends and neighbors, and having come to the house he calls together friends and neighbors, saying to them: ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost!’  I say to you, that thus joy shall be in Heaven over ONE sinner repenting, more than over the ninety-nine righteous ones, who have no need of repenting.” (Luke 15:4-7)

And Jesus says, “The Son of Man [Jesus] came to seek and SAVE THE LOST.” (Luke 19:10)

This whole scene is a symbol of how angry Jesus is at Satan for capturing the LOST people!  OH, HIS LOVE IS AMAZING!!!!  As Hercules destroys Cacus, Jesus will destroy Satan!

For the birth of Aeneas See The Homeric Hymn to Aphrodite (1.5.19 6-201) and Hesiod's
Theogony (1008-1009). In the Hymn to Aphrodite, the Goddess proclaims that Aeneas, the
son she has conceived by the mortal Anchises, will come to rule the Trojans, as will the
generations upon generations that succeed him. In the Theogony the
birth of Aeneas is said to be a result of the sexual union of Anchises and Aphrodite "on the
peaks of windy Ida." This passage is followed directly by mention of the birth of three sons
of Circe by Odysseus, one of whom named Latinus, who will rule over the "famous
Tyrsenians." In this account, then, it is Odysseus, not Aeneas, with whom an early Greek
presence in Italy is associated. The overlapping of the roles of Aeneas and Odysseus in the
Italian foundation stories is a regular feature in the legends, and one that Vergil makes rich
use of.  [God made these resemblances to show that both Aeneas and Odysseus are types of Christ!]

In the Iliad (20.209ff.) Aeneas traces his lineage to Zeus through Dardanus, the legendary
founder of Troy.  [So is Jesus begotten by the most high God the Father, for Zeus is the highest of all the gods!]

After his death, his mother, Venus asked Jupiter to make her son immortal. Jupiter agreed and the river god Numicus cleansed Aeneas of all his mortal parts and Venus anointed him with Ambrosia and Nectar, making him a god. Aeneas was recognized as the god Jupiter Indiges. Inspired by the work of James Frazer, some have posited that Aeneas was originally a life-death-rebirth deity. [So did Jesus rise from the dead after He was anointed, and so did He become declared a God soon afterwards, for He is God!]

---TURNUS
In addition to being a type of Satan, he also appears to be a type of the Antichrist, especially given all the similarities between him and Hector of the Iliad, another type of the Antichrist.  For instance, Turnus is said to be the Rutulians’ “last chance” for avoiding destruction (Aeneid ~12.650), as Hector was the last hope of the Trojans, and as “there is no other name under Heaven by which men must be saved” [other than Christ] (Acts 4:12).  No one can escape him, as no one can escape from Hector (except types of Christ such as Achilles) or Jesus.  Fire shines from his eyes as they did from Hector’s at the end of Iliad 12 and from Jesus’ in Revelation 1:14.  He is the son of Daunus who has fifty daughters, as Hector is the son of Priam who has fifty sons, and as Christ is the son of God the Father who has many “adopted sons” (John 1), i.e., Christians.  He is “by a head the tallest” of all the captains fighting the Trojans (Aeneid ~7:780), as many of the types of Christ such as Achilles and the Colossus of Rhodes are depicted as giants.

---OTHER SYMBOLS OF JESUS:

-The Sibyl of Book 6 who leads Aeneas through Hades, who is the priestess of Apollo the SUN god, daughter of Glaucus the sea GOD, who looks "no longer like a mortal", and who is called the "ancient priestess." Truly is Jesus the son of God the ancient priest of God the Father (Psalm 110) who existed "in the beginning." (John 1:1).

-Nisus of Book 9 who lays down his life for his friend Euryalus in perhaps the most emotional scene of the Aeneid, out of love for him. To emphasize this similarity, in Paradise Lost Book 3:236-238, God even has John Milton make Jesus speak similar language to the kind Nisus uses, when he offers to sacrifice his life, with his repetition of the word "me" when He says to God the Father: "Behold me then, me for him, life for life I offer, on me let thine anger fall; account me man; I for his sake will leave thy bosom." Truly did Jesus say: "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13)

-Lausus toward the end of Book 10 goes in front of his sinful father Mezentius to protect him, and as a result is "pierced" to death by Aeneas (~10.820). Mezentius then says: "Am I, your father, saved by your wounds, by your death do I live?...My son, I stained your name with wickedness..Long since I owed my land, my hating folk, punishment for my sins. I should have given my guilty life up, suffering every death." (~10.840-850)
